My last post to Scooter by the Sea was in May. Was I injured, ill, incapacitated, all summer? No. I confess to laziness. I have had a marvelous summer, and took many rides, snapped many photos, and enjoyed lifeimmensely
And I promised myself that "tomorrow I'll post this and that." Now it's September 27th, and today, I will post this, that, and the other thing
My brother David bought a cabin on Sebago Lake. Here, he beckons to join him at the end of his dock. Remembering the grief I lavished on my younger brother in our childhoods, I remained safely ashore and used my longest lens setting.
Here is the cabin, a magnificent, rustic setting
And this is all I need to be contented - lake view, picnic table, and Moxie!
But we got more - this is just one day's worth of veggies from Kathy's garden
This poor catcher got more than he expected - notice the ball and the position of the glove - this pitch will be caught by the face! I attended a lot of Sea Dogs games
This batter felt the pain of this pitch - he had to go on the disabled list for a week. And, in grand baseball tradition, he acted as if he was fine. He walked to first base, shook off the trainer and the manager, and stood boldly on the bag. Then he scored and left the game!
The rest of the cats weren't so welcoming as they greeted little Joe
Rose was intimidating at first...
...but Joe proved to be too charming
Our family greeted a pair of new members over the summer: Dave's daughter Delvina shares her son Dante with grandmother...
...while Dave's daughter-in-law Tabitha holds Mehdi
And with David and his wife Barbara, and the town of Gorham, we sent Krista off to serve in Afganistan
We celebrated our daughter-in-law Meredith's birthday, as our youngest son Tim serves tiny pieces of cake. Tim is an athletic trainer and a bank VP, and believes in eating well, in not overindulging, in staying fit.
I hold none of those truths to be evident, and my bulk is my testimony. Here, I am contemplating my next snack as I host my occasionally aired show "Geezer Gas" on WMPG radio. I think I was fixated on a stain on the ceiling that looked like a potato chip.
Or maybe I was thinking about my favorite summer treat: Niblets on a stick
But summer is over. This is the task the awaits the frugal in Maine - wood, wood, and more wood!
