Absolute Joy

It's not all that often that we get to experience utter and total joy. Mike and I watched a young boy express that wonderful emotion during a visit to Doc's Cafe in Cumberland.

This kid came to Doc's on a Sunday morning with his father and sister. Dad ordered cinnamon buns for the trio, asking that the children's pastry be cut up. When his was delivered, the boy actually applauded the sticky treat!

    1. Coop,

True - it's good to discover comfort food early in life.

    1. Trobairitz,

Actually, I am not a big fan of donuts and pastries, which is quite odd, because I dislike in general most foods that are good for me, while cherishing most of the bad stuff.

  3. And sweet apple juice to wash it down? Who's going to pull that kid off the ceiling when they leave?

I prefer to compliment you on that excellent photo. Awesome, man.

    1. Martha,

As the father of three sons, I used to dread taking them out to eat, for precisely the reason you mention. I'd get them all geared up and take them back to Mom, who would suggest something a tad tamer next time.

Thank you for the comment on the photo. I'm having a lot of fun with my "Snapseed" photo app on my iPad.

    1. Bob,

As I said to Trobairitz above, I seldom eat the sticky stuff. I'm more of a bag of chips/bucket of Moxie kind of guy.

  6. Fortunately, we got to leave before the stuff kicked in. While we were there the kid was rather well behaved….. stuffing his face.
All in all it was a nice little vignette of a lost era.. don't see this kind of gathering often enough any more.

    1. Mike,

Looking back on the crowd we saw last Sunday, it looks like that vignette is returning, at least at Doc's!

  7. Cute..but I expected to read a narrative about your first scooter ride of the season! LOL

Sugar is good sometimes, however. Anyone who says a sticky bun is a bad thing needs to have one served up with a tall, cold glass of milk!

    Nummy!
